5 Star Rating Editorial Review Submitted June 21, 2007

Tucked away at the Northern edge of Uptown, beneath
the shadow of Queen Anne Hill and its palatial
paradises is one of Seattle's most secluded oases.
Too far from anything else to be a stopover, too adult
to be a hangout, the Sitting Room is a rare
destination in a city overflowing with watering holes.

The small lounge's dark wood, soft orange lighting,
lovely sofas, and classic alcohol advertising prints
whisper Montreal effectively without feeling
prefabricated. The signature drink menu flirts with
bravery, and the seasonal dessert menu suggests an
easy decadence. In a nod to Old World café culture
there are board games available for use, and
thankfully not a television in sight. Come after dark
so that the night envelops the pedestrian Roy Street
surroundings, and let the eclectic mix of trip-hop,
bossa nova, and post-pop lure you into the Room's
ambience. Capital Hill is an eternity away, so you
can lose hours here without fear of seeing an
acquaintance - such is the advantage of leaving the
beaten path.

Come alone with a book to bask in an existential
crisis, bring your closest friends for some secret
revelry or best yet, invite that alluring stranger
with the dancing eyes for an intimate date. Be
romantic, split a bottle of wine from the Room's fine
selection. Let the conversation flow freely amidst
the din of other couples. Don't go home alone.
